Redevelopment of contaminated areas by in-situ and on-site technologies

SGDA mbH offers a wide range of cost-efficient on-site and in-situ methods.

Microbiological treatment, for example, can be applied on-site. Costly transportation processes are not necessary. The treated material can be used for profiling or similar purposes.

One possibility of microbiological treatment of soil under buildings, supply or disposal systems, etc., which cannot be demolished or removed and disposed of is in-site microbiological treatment.

For this purpose, sets of infiltration wells are constructed around the contaminated area and microorganisms, nutrients and special oxygen donors added to the wells. The success of treatment can be speeded up by loosening the soil structure with air lances and blowing compressed air in the soil before the actual treatment begins.

The landfill seepage as well as material polluted by to BTEX and easily volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons are treated in strip systems which are designed, manufactured and operated specifically for each redevelopment case.

Methods involving the immobilization of pollutants in contaminated soil and building rubble are gaining currency due to comparatively low specific costs. Together with the Merseburg University of Applied Technology, SGDA develops such processes, especially for immobilizing mineral hydrocarbons and PAH contaminated soils and building demolition rubble.

Required preliminary and laboratory tests can be conducted in our technical laboratory in Zella-Mehlis. In addition to the machines for preparing and mixing the samples, we also have the analytical tools for measuring chemical and soil-mechanical characteristics as well as elution equipment (application of a modified trough method).
